Talk of a third Ghostbusters movie has been going on for what seems like forever, but it looks like we may finally be seeing some movement on the long delayed sequel minus one of the franchises biggest stars.
In an interview with UK's Metro, Dan Aykroyd revealed that plans for a third film are moving forward with a new writer and the support of the studio behind them. Aykroyd feels confident that production on Ghostbusters 3 will begin next year, but sadly without co-star Bill Murray. Murray was hesitant back in June when David Letterman brought up the topic of a third film, saying the script would have to be good for him to consider returning as Dr. Peter Venkman. Now, Aykroyd says Murray won't be involved at all saying, "It's sad but we're passing it on to a new generation. Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn't seem to be coming and we have to move on. It's time to make the third one."
Just last month, Men In Black 3 and Tropic Thunder writer Etan Cohen was brought on to pen a new script which will find the original team passing on their proton packs to a new generation of paranormal exterminators. No word yet if we will see fellow Ghostbusters Harold Ramis or Ernie Hudson reprising their roles.
What do you think of Ghostbusters 3 moving forward sans Murray and which young stars should they cast as the new Ghostbusters? Let us know in the comments and while you're there, don't forget to hit that subscribe button. Until next time, I'm Vivian Fabiola, thanks for watching.
