Batman vs Superman: Lex Casting, Green Lantern Rumors & More

There is a lot of buzz going on around Zack Snyder's Batman/Superman film, and we are filling you in on the projects top stories.
So, if you are still recovering from last week's announcement that Jesse Eisenberg will be playing Lex Luthor in the upcoming Batman/Superman movie, you may want to sit down ...just out of precaution. Now we know a lot of you were hoping that Bryan Cranston would be the actor who landed the coveted role, but sources tell THR that despite rumors, Cranston was never approached for the role. Though Warner Bros did contemplate having an older Luthor, they ultimately decided to go with a younger version of the character. One that most likely will have been a childhood friend of Clark Kent, similar to what we saw in Smallville and some recent comics. Sources also revealed that those rumors that Joaquin Phoenix had been approached for the role are true, but the Her star passed. Girl star Adam Driver, who was rumored to be in the running to play Nightwing in the film, was being eyed for the role, but had to pass due to a scheduling conflict. As for Eisenberg, the studio is being very secretive about how he will portray Luthor, even refusing to say whether or not he will be bald in the film. In other Batman/Superman news, Dwayne The Rock Johnson is throwing out more hints this week that he may be playing Green Lantern in the upcoming Batman/Superman movie. This rumor has been going around since back in December when Johnson confirmed that he did have a meeting with Warner Bros CEO about a DC project in 2014. All signs pointed to Batman vs Superman since it's the only DC film shooting in 2014. Well, this week an Instagram that The Rock posted back in November, before it was known he was involved with a DC project, popped up where Johnson hashtagged #JohnStewartCanStillWhupSupermansAss. IGN jumped on the news, and tweeted a headline reading "Dwayne Johnson Hints That He's Playing Green Lantern." Johnson saw the tweet, and instead of denying his involvement and shooting down the rumors he instead tweets back "All I said was #LanternCanWhupSuperman." Of course, we have to point out that the original hashtag mentioned John Stewart, not Green Lantern, which leads us and many others to think there's probably a good reason he specifically used Stewart. Like perhaps his meeting was about playing him? Very interesting, right? In other Batman/Superman news, Matt Damon gave out some rave reviews on Ben Affleck's Batman suit and about Zack Snyder's plan for the script. While talking to MTV news, Damon said ""I have seen a picture. It's excellent. And I've talked to him about the story line, and it's great. Look, I've known him for thirty-something years, I'd be the first guy being like, 'Buddy, what are you doing?' But I think the movie is going to be great." This is the third positive review that has surfaced about the new bat suit. Fatman on Batman podcast host, Kevin Smith, said that he instantly bear hugged Zack Snyder when he saw what the suit looked like, saying quote "You have not seen this costume in a movie on film before. And for a comic-book fan, it was mind-bending." Afflecks wife, Jennifer Garner is also calling it a total reinvention.
