Returning back home with fully charged battery packs is like losing a battle. A battle against time, the weather, life obligations or an unlucky crash (or two).
Whichever the reason of your "defeat", it is advised to discharge your LiPo batteries back to storage voltage, if you are not planning on flying in the next few days. It is safer and good for the longevity of your batteries.
There are various ways of discharging LiPo batteries. You can use your charger, which usually can draw just a "weak" discharge current - this will take a lot of time, especially if you have many batteries to discharge. You can even hover indoors, since your motors can draw a substantial amount of current - but this is noisy, requires your full attention on the sticks and is also time consuming.
Instead, you can use the AOK 150W balancer/discharger, combined with a parallel board. This unit can also be used as a balancer and as a cell voltage monitor for your batteries (although there are many better and smaller options for this task). The kit comes with the discharge module and 3x 50W lamps, for a total of 150W max discharge.
Setting up and discharging are very easy and the overall size of the hardware is small enough to carry on trips as well, in case you need to discharge your LiPo batteries before a flight or long distance travel.
This is QUICK GUIDE: How to discharge multiple LiPo batteries quickly, automatically and "safely" (feat. AOKoda 150W discharger) - Let's go!

When it comes to LiPo batteries, it is better to play it safe. You should not leave your batteries unattended when charging / discharging.
Extra caution should be taken concerning the lamps of this discharger: make sure they are securely and safely fixed in a well ventilated or completely open fixture and that there are no flammable objects close to the lamps.
