Runcam Micro Sparrow vs Runcam Micro Swift (v1): Overview & side-by-side comparison - BEST FOR LESS

CMOS vs CCD? 16:9 vs 4:3? Micro Sparrow vs Micro Swift? The answer cannot be simple, nor definitive.
The Micro Swift performs very well. The image is crisp, with wide dynamic range and high level of detail under most conditions. It may be lacking OSD with Vbat readings like its newer V2 but I wanted to compare the Micro Sparrow with the closest 4:3 alternative available.
The Micro Sparrow performed better than I expected, with very good detail in the shadows during high contrast scenes and very fast adjustment to light changes.
The colors in the shadows become a bit washed out but still remain clear and pleasant to view - there is definitely room for fine tuning ofcourse.
It seems like it is finally time to start thinking of CMOS cameras differently when it comes to FPV - and we are only at the "beginning".
Personally I am used to flying 4:3 and the field of view of the Micro Sparrow, combined with its 16:9 aspect ratio, felt restricting.
If you are already invested in a 16:9 setup, then most probably an FPV camera with native 16:9 ratio feed will give you the best results, without any weird stretching of the image. If that is the case, the light weight and overall performance of the Micro Sparrow make it a very compelling option.
