Please help us to find bad videos. Broken or unappropriated video content?
This will be the last video for a month or so, I'm going in for some nasty surgery in a couple of days and there is a fairly lengthy recovery period. Please hang in there, I'll be back uploading new videos as soon as I can. I apologize in advance for not being able to respond to all your comments or to be able to check out your videos for a while. Cheers, Bob
Warning, this video is more for those of you that fly or appreciate Pattern flying! There's no "shred it dude" stuff, just some awesome, highly skilled flying.
The pattern guys took over the field for the first of two pattern events held this year at our little club in Beautiful British Colombia. As usual, Vancouver Island and Alberta were well represented by a good turnout of pilots and planes. We had the privilege of having most members of the Canadian Team at our little event.
Chad Northeast is a member of our National Team and flies for Team Futaba. He brought a couple of planes with him including this beautiful OXAI Acuracy Bi-Plane. Yes, I know this is not how you spell "accuracy" but that's how "they" spell it! And oh by the way, Chad won the event. Nice flying Chad!
Anyway, although I said I would never video another pattern flight (because I suck at it) here is. While I might be tempted to get a camera with a good stabilizing system or some decent image stabilizing software like some of the big guys on the Tube use, it's just not worth it for the few times I'd be crazy enough to video the flight of a pattern ship.
Unless you're into pattern, you probably won't have any idea how high and how big these guys fly. I simply can't hold a camera steady on full zoom for seven minutes tracking a plane that's so high in the air.
For you guys that understand what it takes to fly the FAI F3A F sequence, you will appreciate this flight.
Here's a link to Chad's plane:
Here's a link to a diagram of the sequence that Chad is flying. Go on try it, I dare you!
Thanks for watching and I hope to see you soon!
