Deadpool Adds Gina Carano & Old Favorite

It looks like Ryan Reynolds will be getting lots of mutant help when Deadpool arrives in theaters next year. With production now underway on the long awaited Deadpool movie, casting news is beginning to come in hard and fast. THR reports that MMA fighter turned actress Gina Carano has been cast as “Angel Dust” in the film. Though it’s unclear how she will fit into the storyline, in the comics Angel Dust is a member of the underground mutant group known as the “Morlocks”. First introduced in 2002, Angel Dust has the ability to chemically supercharge her adrenaline levels giving her superhuman strength for a short time. In addition to Reynolds and Carano, Deadpool will also include Transformers 4’s T.J. Miller in an as yet unknown role as well as X-Men member “Colossus”, played by Daniel Cudmore in X2, X-Men: The Last Stand and last year’s X-Men Days of Future Past. Deadpool, directed by Tim Miller, will focus on Ryan Reynolds reprising his X-Men Origins: Wolverine role as “Wade Wilson”, a man with cancer who undergoes the same Weapon X program that gave Wolverine his Adamantium skeleton, which gives him accelerated healing powers, but also physically scars him and makes him mentally unstable. Deadpool is set to arrive in theaters on February 12th, 2016 and to celebrate the one year countdown, Reynolds recently teased a look at a prototype of the new costume.
