Ben Affleck shares an update on the planned Batman movie and we’ve got it for you right now! Ben Affleck confirms he’s directing a new Batman movie, but it may be a while before we actually get to see it. During a recent visit to the set of next year’s Justice League movie in London, star Ben Affleck sat down with several outlets to talk about the highly anticipated team-up movie, but of course questions quickly shifted to the planned solo Batman movie. Affleck has long been rumored to be directing and writing the script for the film along with DC Films co-head Geoff Johns and during the set visit Affleck confirmed the rumors, but also hinted that it could be a while before he begins filming saying quote, “I think they have a date for it although, I don’t know if I would necessarily be able to make that date, because I don’t have a script that’s ready yet…my timetable is I’m not going to make a movie until there’s a script that I think is good, because I’ve been on the end of the things when you make movies when you have a script that’s not good yet and it doesn’t pan out.” Affleck went on to say that while they have a script, he’s not happy enough with it to go out and make it. He has set a very high bar for his Batman movie and doesn’t want to just have a script that quote, “might be fun”. As for what his Batman movie may be about, Affleck hinted that the “world’s greatest detective” aspect of the character will be more present in next year’s Justice League than was seen in Batman v Superman, but will be expanded even further in his Batman movie saying quote, “I think all the great Batman stories are, at their heart, detective stories.” While it will be exciting for fans to hear that Affleck is prepared to take his time when it comes to creating the perfect Batman movie, some potential release dates that the studio could have in mind include October 5th, 2018, November 1st, 2019 or July 24th, 2020. With Batman being one of the most iconic characters of all-time, we’re sure the studio is itching for a solo film sooner rather than later, so it will be interesting to see just how long Affleck will be able to hold them off, but what do you think? Are you glad Affleck is holding off until he has the right script? Share your thoughts in the comments and then click here to find out what storylines we’d like see adapted for the film. I’m Erin Robinson, thanks for watching and we’ll see you soon with more movie news!
