Harv's 120cc Slick 540 - Deadstick

This is a new upload of an original video that I posted in February of 2015. That video just got spanked with a copyright claim against the little bit of music that I used in the video, even though the artist had granted permission at the time. I wasn’t aware they were allowed to change their mind after the fact. If this is the case, it does not bode well for many of my videos. In any event, I removed the music that was the subject of the copyright claim and uploaded this revised video. I thought Harv’s plane and flight deserved a fate better than to be deleted.
Here is the original video description:
It’s finally time for Harv’s winter project to take to the sky. His new Aztech Aeromodels EG Aircraft 120cc Slick 540 looks, sounds and flies awesome. This was only the fourth flight on Harv’s new DA 120 so hovering and other slow speed maneuvers will have to wait until the engine is broken in properly.
You’ll see that Harv’s attention to detail and creativity shows through on this build.
The flight was cut short when the engine stalled. Watch Harv immediately dive straight for the ground so that he could position himself for a perfect deadstick landing. There wasn’t enough altitude for a “go round” and if he had glided in from where it stalled, he would have overshot the runway. I wish my brain and thumbs processed information like that!
As (bad) luck would have it, we had an ugly grey sky on this Sunday. The heavy overcast skies sucked all the color and contrast out of the video. Of course on Monday, we had bright blue skies with not a cloud in sight. With a second cut off the grass on the runway, we are slipping out of winter mode and I guess we shouldn’t complain because many of our friends in other areas of North America are still dealing with snow…yuck!
Nice job and nice flying Harv!
