XMen Days of Future Past is finally here and with it a brand new end credit scene, but did this one leave you more perplexed than when Thanos' smirk showed up at the end of The Avengers? Don't fret, we've got your covered with a full explanation on what exactly it all means. If you haven't figured it out by now, you're about to enter a level 3 SPOILER ZONE so if you haven't seen Days of Future Past yet, you'll probably want to hold off on watching this video until you do. For those that have, let's get into it already! So first up, a recap. The scene takes place in ancient Egypt where a hooded figure is using their mutant powers to construct the pyramids while throngs of onlookers chant "En Sabah Nur". There are also four horsemen watching on in the background. As the camera pans around, we see the hooded figure is actually a boy with gray skin. It's a quick tease, but for those familiar with the comics knows it lays the groundwork for what's to come in the next X-Men film set for May 27th, 2016. So what does a grey skinned boy from ancient Egypt have to do with modern day mutants? Well, "En Sabah Nur" is actually the name of the world's first mutant, also known as Apocalypse. He has unlimited powers that include energy manipulation, teleportation, psionic powers, genius level intellect...the list goes on and on. And on top of all that, he's immortal too! Hence the reason he'll still be around 5,000 years later to cause trouble for the X-Men come 2016. We're not exactly sure how he's been spending his time the past 5,000 years, but thanks to the time altering events of Days of Future Past, he'll have his sights on taking over the world with the help of his four horsemen, which, in the comics, consisted of brainwashed and enhanced mutants like Wolverine and Gambit. X-Men Apocalypse writer Simon Kinberg recently spoke to IGN about the end credit scene and explained it is meant to be a deep back story glimpse into Apocalypse, but don't expect the film to take place in ancient Egypt and Apocalypse won't be a boy in the film. We know from previous interviews that the film will instead take place in the 80's approximately a decade after the events of Days of Future Past and will focus on main First Class characters Xavier, Magneto, Mystique and Beast. Hugh Jackman will most likely return as Wolverine and we will reportedly also be introduced to younger versions of original X-Men characters like Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey. Also Quicksilver will be back to take on a more significant role in Apocalypse thanks to his buzz worthy portrayal in Days of Future Past. It's not clear whether or not we will see Channing Tatum as "Gambit" in Apocalypse, but he recently told The Hollywood Reporter that he hasn't officially signed on, but they are quote "on the 1 yard line".
