Marvel’s Cinematic Universe is chock full of fun easter eggs for fans to seek out, but did you know every one of its Phase Two movies feature a nod to another big Disney franchise? It’s true and we’ve got the details! Today’s episode of Clevver News Feed is brought to you by the new movie The Age of Adaline, in theaters Friday! There’s nothing new about easter eggs in movies and particularly in the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there’s a strain of ones that are nods to Star Wars that Marvel President Kevin Feige has been sneaking into their Phase Two movies that few people probably realized. We should point out that, since this includes Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man, what we’re about to say could be considered a minor spoiler to those films as well as the previous ones, so proceed at your own risk. Okay, while speaking with Cinemablend, Feige revealed that a character gets their arm cut off in every single Phase Two movie as a nod to Star Wars. Hardcore Star Wars fans may know that someone loses an arm or hand in every single one of the films starting with Obi Wan taking out a patron’s arm in the cantina in the first film to both Luke and Anakin losing their hands in battle. Feige explained that it didn’t start out as something intentional, but eventually became so saying quote, “I’m obsessed with Star Wars…It sort of happens in every Star Wars movie, but I was sort of looking at it, ‘Okay, is Phase Two our Empire Strikes Back? Not really, but tonally things are a little different.” So which arm losing moments have we been privy to so far? In Iron Man 3, Guy Pearce’s Aldrich Killian loses his arm during his final battle with Iron Man. Fake Thor loses his arm to Loki as a distraction in Thor: The Dark World. Bucky is shown losing his arm when he fell off the train in a flashback scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and most recently, Gamora slices off both of Groot’s arms early in Guardians of the Galaxy when they are both attempting to capture Star-Lord. We’ll have to wait to see who ends up losing a limb in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man, but you can be sure it will happen. So, what do you think of this nod to Star Wars in Marvel’s Phase Two? Did anyone out there already figure out this hidden easter egg?
