Arnold Schwarzenegger always said he'd be back and he's once again living up to that promise and taking on a role many of us thought we would never see him play again.
Sure, there's been a lot of talk about Schwarzenegger returning as our favorite cyborg for a fifth Terminator movie, but now Deadline has revealed that the former Governator is set to return in a role that helped make him famous - Conan the Barbarian.
Schwarzenegger will reprise his role in Universal Pictures The Legend of Conan and are eyeing a Summer 2014 release for the film. Writer/producer Chris Morgan, whose credits include the last three Fast & Furious films as well as next year's 6th installment will write the script, which will be a sequel to the original film, with Schwarzenegger's Nordic Viking king at the end of his life and wanting to go out with one final epic battle. The film will ignore the storyline's of the 1984 sequel Conan the Destroyer as well as last year's disappointing Conan the Barbarian starring Jason Momoa in the title role.
Regarding his return as Conan, Schwarzenegger said quote:
"I always loved the Conan character and I'm honored to be asked to step into the role once again. I can't wait to work with Universal and the great team of Fredrik Malmberg and Chris Morgan to develop the next step of this truly epic story."
Filmmakers have not decided if the film will be rated R like the original or go for a more teen friendly PG-13, but they intend on keeping the same level of violence in the new film as long as it serves who the character is now, in the later stage of his life.
So are you excited to see Schwarzenegger back as a much older Conan or would you rather see him in another Terminator movie instead? Let us know below or over on Twitter @ClevverMovies. I'm Simone Boyce in Hollywood and I'll be back!
