Yet another Fantastic Four star is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we’ve got the details. It looks like the MCU is set to have not one, but two former Human Torches in their midst. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Michael B. Jordan will reunite once again with director Ryan Coogler for 2018’s highly anticipated Black Panther movie. Jordan and Coogler previously worked together on 2013’s Fruitvale Station and last year’s Creed. No word yet on what role Jordan could be playing, but sources are suggesting it could be one of the film’s villains. This will be the second Fantastic Four actor to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Both Jordan and Chris Evans, who of course plays “Captain America” in the franchise, took on the role of “Human Torch” in their respective films. Funny enough, Fantastic Four producer Simon Kinberg was just today quoted as saying that Fox is still interested in making a sequel to Fantastic Four with the same cast, though with a brighter and more optimistic tone in line with the comics. It will be interesting to see if Jordan’s Black Panther casting affects those plans. In addition to his role as another Marvel hero and having worked with director Ryan Coogler previously, Jordan also has another connection to the MCU. He is currently working with Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo on a remake of The Thomas Crowne Affair, which he is set to star with the Russo’s producing. As for the Black Panther movie, Jordan will be joining star Chadwick Boseman as the title hero in the film that also could potentially star Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o as Black Panther’s love interest. Production on the film is expected to begin early next year for a February 2nd, 2018 release. So, who out there is excited to see Michael B.
