Tyrese Teases Possible Green Lantern Casting

Is he or isn’t he? That’s the big question surrounding Tyrese Gibson and an iconic DC Comics character and we’ve got new details right here on Clevver Newsfeed! Could Tyrese Gibson be the next Green Lantern? The Fast & Furious star responds to some recent rumors. It’s no secret that 2011’s Green Lantern was a big disappointment for Warner Bros and failed to launch a DC Cinematic Universe, but the intergalactic hero is set to get a reboot in 2020 and will likely show up in at least one of the planned Justice League movies. Just this past week, Collider’s sources suggested that the new film will be more of a superhero team-up movie than a solo film focusing on the Green Lantern Corps and include more than one human Green Lantern. Latino Review took things a step further and suggested that the film will focus on “Hal Jordan” and “John Stewart” and in fact, the roles have already been cast and the studio plans to introduce them at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. As for who they suggest have already landed the roles? That would be Chris Pine as “Jordan” and Tyrese as “Stewart”. Of course, this should all be taken as rumor for now, but with Comic Con just 2 weeks away, we should know how accurate these reports are soon. As for Tyrese, he’s been campaigning for the Green Lantern role pretty hard the past few months and even reported to have met with the studio and following the recent rumor, posted this fan made pic of him and Chris Pine as the superhero duo saying quote, “Shit just got real #DoubleOath #DoubleTrouble #GreenLantern”. Following the post, Entertainment Tonight caught up with Tyrese to find out what the photo meant and about casting rumors to which Tyrese responded quote, “There are certain things I can't speak on, but I will say, however this works out, it's definitely the fans' fault...I took the oath, and I had a meeting at Warner Bros. and certain things were said and talked about. We'll just see what happens." Tyrese went on to say his muscles are ready to be used and he has a number of fans and some box office receipts behind him and thinks he deserves a shot at suiting up and becoming the Green Lantern. Though he wouldn’t confirm if he is in fact cast already, he did say he could show up at Comic-Con on quote, “the other side of an announcement.” We’ll have to wait and see if that does happen, but do you think Tyrese would be a good choice to play “John Stewart” and would you like to see him team up with Chris Pine as fellow Green Lanterns?
