There is so much disinformation in the world that it’s incredibly hard to keep up with all of it. Whether you are turning on a news station or reading something crazy online, a lot of time the info we learn just doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. The modern era of fake news isn’t anything new- humankind has been dealing with misinformation campaigns forever. Often the reason behind it isn’t to deceive or manipulate your point of view. It’s usually just a coincidence or misunderstanding that made a lot of these lies on our list seem real. Because somebody who was important in society said one thing, everybody would jump at the opportunity to believe them. If the elder of your town said that eight hours of sleep is the correct amount per night- then you better believe them. Right? If we don’t question what we’ve learned as a society, we will always be forced to relive the past. And that’s not a great place to be! The world is safer than ever and science is highly advanced- so there is no reason whatsoever that we should believe some of these odd lies on our list. Thinking that peeing on a jellyfish sting isn’t going to hurt anybody too bad, but it sure will be embarrassing when you find out that it doesn’t do a whole lot of anything! And shaving a beard doesn’t make the hairs grow back thicker either! Those are just a few of the selections on our ist. Here are the 10 lies that you still believe!
