Guillermo del Toro Talks Directing 'Doctor Strange'...Again

Guillermo del Toro reminds us that he STILL wants to make movie magic with the Sorcerer Supreme!
Why must you tease us, Guillermo?! Rumors have been swirling around the Doctor Strange movie for years now, and though the character has been linked to a dozen different writers, directors, and studios, del Toro's name never seems to be far from the mix. Doctor Stephen Strange was first introduced to us in Marvel's 1960s comic series 'Strange Tales,' where we learned of his past as a brilliant surgeon who, after a crippling car accident, traveled the world and eventually rose to power under the tutelage of a master sorcerer. Marvel Studios recovered the rights to the character and in 2010 the writing team behind the new 'Conan: The Barbarian' were hired to write the script, but here we are in 2012 with no green light in sight.
Still, comic book and horror aficionado Guillermo del Toro likes to whip fans into a frenzy every so often by mentioning his hope of bringing Doctor Strange to the big screen. He recently told horror fan site Shock Till You Drop that a "dark fantasy saga" with a supernatural superhero like Doctor Strange is right up his alley. Del Toro has relationships with several Marvel collaborators and it was at one time rumored that he would direct 'Thor,' so teaming up with the studio is definitely not out of the realm of possibility. A more recent rumor even posits that Doctor Strange will show up in the 'Thor' sequel, setting him up nicely for a standalone movie somewhere down the line.
With all the continual buzz surrounding the Sorcerer Supreme, it seems that he's destined to make it onto film one way or another. Del Toro namedropped a few other dream projects in the interview, including Swamp Thing, Etrigan the Demon, and Morbius the Living Vampire, and revealed that his Hulk TV show may have found a writer!
