New details shed some light on the next Transformers movie and we’ve got them for you right now. It looks like the next Transformers movie could be going medieval. As you’re probably aware by now, director Michael Bay is set to return to the Transformers franchise for a fifth time and despite some casting news and an official title, little is known about the film’s plot. Well, thanks to JoBlo, some of the mystery behind the film may have been revealed and while everything we’re about to cover should be taken as rumor for now, there may be spoilers ahead, so proceed at your own risk. Okay, so the last we saw Optimus Prime, he was headed into outer space to search for the “Creators” and learn the mystery behind his origin. In the new film, Optimus will reportedly discover the Autobots home planet of “Cybertron”, which is now a dead planet that he had something to do with. Luckily he finds there is a way to restore the planet back to life, but it will require finding an artifact which is, you guessed it, back on Earth. What this artifact is remains a mystery, but JoBlo suspects it has something to do with the film’s title, “The Last Knight”. According to the site, the artifact will have something to do with King Arthur and his magician, Merlin. It will be revealed in the film that Merlin’s magical powers were somehow given to him by a Transformer and JoBlo speculates that the artifact Optimus and his fellow Autobots will be looking for is none other than the legendary sword, Excalibur. With Medieval England playing a role in the film, new cast member Anthony Hopkins could potentially play “Merlin” in the film or perhaps one of two new Transformers with English accents; an Astin Martin named “Cogman” or a Vespa named “Squeaks”. In addition to those new characters, we also know Bumblee will return, this time in a leadership role while Optimus is gone as well as Hound, Crosshairs and Drift. The Dinobots will also return with the addition of “mini-dinobots” though what they are and how they fit into the film is unknown. As for the Decepticons, we know that Megatron will once again return as the film’s main villain as will “Barricade”, last seen in Dark of the Moon. On the human side, Mark Wahlberg will reprise his role as “Cade Yeager” as will Josh Duhamel as “Lt. Col. William Lennox”. Isabela Moner will also star as the film’s female lead. Her character is described as a street-smart tomboy raised in the foster system whose only friend is a small Transformer. Perhaps one of the “mini-dinobots” previously mentioned?
