X-Men: First Class' Sequel To Reboot Present Day 'X-Men' Storyline?---the story coming your way!
Xmen first class' sequel is in full swing with a realease date of july 18 2014. And now, according to Aint It Cool News, its looking like a title registration for the flick, is giving xmen fans a clue as to the plot for the follow up flick!
20thCentury Fox has registered the title *Days of Future Past* --- a title that rings a bell for the fans of the comic series----days of future past was a two-issue storyline from the comics in 1981...now for thos od you NOT familiar with the comics, a quick wiki search tells you essentially the storyline for the comic series----
The wiki says, quote, "the storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men's failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps. The present-day X-Men are forewarned of the possible future by a future version of their
teammate Kitty Pryde, whose mind traveled back in time and possessed her younger self to warn the X-Men. She succeeds in her mission and returns to the future, but despite her success, the future timeline still exists as an alternative timeline rather than as the actual future."
IN a nutshell, the *Days of Future Past* story MAY serve as a way to reboot the present day X-Men franchise without effecting the original three films, similar to what J.J. Abrams did with the Star Trek franchise. This has not been confirmed by the studio and would most likely be an altered version of the Days of Future Past sotryline, but could be an interesting way of rebooting the franchise in the modern day while still utilizing the 1960's storyline of 'X-Men: First Class.
