A Man of Steel sequel is in the works and we’ve got the details for you right now! The big screen Superman may be dead, but that’s not stopping him from filling up his schedule. Following the record breaking opening of Suicide Squad, The Wrap brings word that Warner Brothers Pictures is actively developing a Man of Steel sequel with a source close to the project stating that Superman is a top priority for the studio and they are keen on making the character right for audiences. Despite Superman meeting his end at the hands of Doomsday in Batman v Superman, we know he will somehow return in next year’s Justice League and while a Man of Steel sequel is a welcome sign for Superman fans, it likely won’t be a direct sequel to Henry Cavill’s 2013 debut as the last son of Krypton. After all, despite it focusing more on Ben Affleck’s “Batman”, Batman v Superman for all intents and purposes was a Man of Steel sequel and by the time a new solo Superman movie arrives in theaters, we’ll likely have already had two Justice League movies released. As for when we could potentially see a new Superman movie arrive, Warner Brothers currently has two dates held for “Untitled DC Movies”; October 5th, 2018 and November 1st, 2019. Sources claim that we’ll likely see Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie before a new Superman film, so the November 2019 release seems the most likely candidate, though following Suicide Squad’s successful opening, that franchise will likely be getting a sequel or some type of spinoff movie sooner than later.
