A new Toy Story movie is on the way and it looks like the sequel will be very different from its predecessors. Fans of Pixar’s Toy Story were more than ecstatic when it was announced a fourth film was set to hit theaters in 2017 and today we’re getting new details on what will be in store for Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang. In an interview with Disney Latino, Pixar President Jim Morris revealed that Toy Story 4 will NOT be a continuation of Toy Story 3 and will focus less on the interaction between the toys and children, most notably “Bonnie”, who inherited the group at the end of the trilogy. Instead, Morris says the fourth outing will be a romantic comedy and love story, though he wouldn’t say which characters the love story would focus on. Morris went on to explain that Toy Story 3 was the end of a trilogy and wrapped up in a beautiful way. Toy Story 4 will be a separate story and they currently don’t have plans for it to be the start of a new trilogy, but aren’t completely ruling out the idea of future films. According to Morris, the crew at Pixar are preparing for a table read of the script soon with Toy Story 4 set to arrive in theaters on June 16th, 2017. John Lasseter, who directed the first two films is back to helm part 4 with actors turned writers Rashida Jones and Will McCormack penning the script.
