The cast of next year’s Thor 3 has been revealed and we’re breaking it all down for you right now! Marvel continues its trend of stellar casting and this time it’s for Thor: Ragnarok. Rumors of casting on next year’s Thor: Ragnarok can finally be put to rest as Marvel has not only officially announced who will be in the cast, but also what roles they will be playing. In addition to franchise vets Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins, the film will also star Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, aka The Hulk. Cate Blanchett, who has long been rumored for the sequel will play the mysterious and powerful new villain “Hela” in the film. In the comics, “Hela” is the Goddess of Death who often attempts to expand her power to the realm known as “Valhalla” where the honored dead spend eternity. Concept art of Hela was included along with the cast announcement and from what we can see, she will be pretty faithful to the comics. Joining Blanchett will be Jeff Goldblum as the eccentric “Grandmaster”, one of the oldest living beings in the universe, Tessa Thompson as “Valkyrie”, an Asgardian tasked by Odin to lead fallen warriors to Valhalla, and last but not least, Karl Urban will play “Skurge”, also known as “The Executioner” in the comics. He is an Asgardian who is often associated with the villainous “Enchantress”. Regarding the casting, Marvel president Kevin Feige said quote, “The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet. The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor, and having all of them is incredible.” Production on Thor: Ragnarok is expected to take place this summer in Australia with What We Do in the Shadows director Taika Waititi at the helm. The film is currently set to arrive in theaters on November 3rd, 2017 and promises to alter the MCU significantly. So, what do you think of the cast of Thor: Ragnarok and do you think the addition of Skurge means we’ll see “Enchantress” introduced also?
