2016 W.R.A.M. HOBBY EXPO

Episode#140 The Westchester Radio Aero Modelers, Inc., is a not-for-profit model airplane club and is one of the leading organizations in the R/C (radio control) hobby. In addition to the private pursuit of modeling by our individual members, we operate one of the leading model trade shows each year. We have also introduced a program aimed toward getting youngsters involved in model building and flying. This effort encourages parents and other adults to provide the necessary support toward getting kids interested and active in the healthy hobby of model building and flying. The WRAM organization is best known as the host club for one of the country's largest hobby trade shows, and the biggest of its kind on the East Coast. The show is normally held on the last full weekend of February each year and is now open for three days, Friday through Sunday
The annual R/C show will celebrate its 45th year at The Meadowlands Exposition Center, Secaucus, NJ.
In addition to exhibits by some 150 or more manufacturers and organizations, the show is a magnet for modelers who compete for prizes in a static competition that is staggering for its size and the beauty of the models on display.
Modelers (and exhibitors) from all over the country attend the show, and it is a showcase for all the latest in kits, engines, motors, radio systems, plans, accessories, and other hardware.
This unique hobby helps those who participate to create and develop skills that would otherwise not likely develop through other activities. Building and flying models as a youngster can help to lead to careers in aviation, engineering, the sciences and a world of other possibilities. It is a very gratifying hobby that can help to build confidence, and it generally stays with people throughout their lifetime when they are lucky enough to get an early start.
