Forgot to mention that it was Brain3D.co gopro mounts that saved me from losing a gopro in that crash. It was about 1/3 the way slipped out of the mount. Had I used a simple batt strap I for sure would have lost the gopro:
Lately HQ has put out many designs. Whatever's going on, the 5.5x4x3v1s seems to be the first of a new lineage and this new 5x5x3v1s is the next prop in line. Grip is great, throttle control is good and surprisingly, durability seems excellent but still second from best. For a 4.4g steep pitch prop, response is also very good (notably improved from the 4.8v1s) though just a hair off lesser pitch props. Amps are unfortunately ~55% more than your standard 5x4x3 and on par with the Cyclone 5046, but only at higher speeds which is where this prop shines! FAST! Not a kick you in the butt accel like the 4.3v1s but faster top end and faster than you would expect! The pitch and speed makes up for, and explains this props minor shortcomings. High pitch implies a lower average RPM in flight which means a reduced gyroscopic effect (lower control feel) that exhibits during slow flight with the 5x5x3v1s. Above all else, the new material or whatever they've done has solved the unpredictability completely.
No prop is perfect but I think the unique balance of properties in this prop make it one of the best steep pitch prop I've tried and the best prop HQ has put out yet (to me). Given the recent pattern, I would expect to see this general design in a lower pitch soon. Perhaps called 5x4.4x3v1s because everyone else has used up all the other darn numbers... (wish they would drop the v1s off the name)
