- Learn how to use a Monopod and get cinematic shots with these creative tips and tricks. In this Tutorial video we used the iFootage Cobra 2 series.
As you know, we love being creative with film gear, like using tripods as a Steadicam or sliders in every way possible. When you are starting filmmaker you don't always have the budget for all this expensive gear. You can always get your hands dirty and try to make it yourself, but it's not easy to get the same results as professional gear. The Monopod can help you with getting professional result and still staying within a budget.
A Monopod is like a tripod, but like it's name says it only has 1 leg. This gives it the advantage of being more mobile, dynamic and practical in small spaces. For starters it can be the perfect low budget gear to get the job done. You can somehow recreate the movements of a slider with a monopod by just tilting it from left to right. You can even use is as a Steadicam by balancing the length of the monopod and the position of the camera on top. So with some creativity you can create awesome shots with this versatile and efficient gear.
