Forgive the mis-labeling mis-stating of some of the prop diameters as 8" when they should have been 6". All the props were 6" diameter except for the last one which was 5".
Here is the complete listing of all the findings of this testing, as well as some powerplant combinations tested previously:
This is the compact but powerful Turnigy XP D2826-6 2200KV motor, great for models in the range of 500-900g AUW. It has a high KV rating and thus works great with a small propeller such as a 6x4. It has a nice wattage output for its size and a surprising efficiency with some propellers and at certain power settings as seen on this testing regimen.
This motor is $9 as of mid-2013 and is tested with an assortment of ESC's from $7-22.
Note the electric "specific thrust" for each power scenario as expressed as the grams of thrust per electrical watt. This is a good benchmark for comparing the efficiency of different motor and propeller combinations. 4 grams per watt is considered pretty good. 5 grams per watt is excellent. By comparison EDFs are often in the 1.5g/w range.
