fpv.blue, How far can it fly?

Here's another flight with the fpv.blue HD FPV system. The primary goal of this flight was to see how far I could make it. We already know it will go out to 7Km as their own video had shown us, but this time I came prepared with a tested autopilot/RTH/failsafe, the winds in my favor, and enough battery to break on my PB if necessary... lol Funny thing, I actually DID break my personal record for the Skyhunter. For me, it's amazing. I'll let you watch the video though. ;) There were a few other little things I was trying out too, like the HDR option for the camera which I've enabled now. You can see that in the super dynamic range, and the frame rate reduced from 60 to about 55-56 now. I also had the L-com 8db patch antenna as before, but used the WA5VJB PCB yagi on the second input. I wanted to see how well the yagi performed, and having the Rx signal levels and SNR was a great way to finally get a real comparison between these two antennas. You can see the patch clearly has more range than the yagi as we'd suspected already, based on the wider "beam" is has than the patch. So, there you have it. Watch the video and draw your own conclusions! :) Enjoy!

My first video with this system can be found here -
The flying footage was recording on the ground using this HDMI recorder - (You can also find them on eBay)
While the recorder does have HDMI passthrough, I found the output to be somewhat lower quality and distorted, so I used an HDMI splitter like this between the recorder and fpv.blue receiver, and ran the second output of the splitter to my display that I used to fly with -

Here's some affiliate links to the video gear I use from Ready Made R/C:
1.3GHz video transmitters (I use 200, 400, 800, and 1500mW on various planes)
I recommend this receiver to go with them. I use an older Racewood type they used to sell, but these are supposed to be at least as good with the same Comtech tuners in them. Apparently Racewood is no longer in business, so here's what replaced them:
I use this 8dbi Patch Antenna, it has been my go-to antenna for a long time now, for years! lol I've been out more then 10 miles using one of these and the 800mW vtx listed above:
On the transmitter side, the stock dipoles that come with them work pretty good together with that patch, but if you want slightly better performance and less weight/drag, consider these:
