With the success of the first two films, a third Expendables movie is pretty much inevitable and now one of the highly sought after actors is speaking out about a possible role in the sequel.
Before The Expendables 2 even came out, there was talk about which action stars we would see joining the team for a third film. Producer Avi Lerner revealed that Nicolas Cage had already been tapped for a role and they were hoping to add Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Clint Eastwood to the cast as well. In fact, Lerner revealed that Eastwood had already been approached about joining the cast. Extra recently sat down with Eastwood to talk about his new film Trouble with the Curve and they had to ask him about the possibility of joining The Expendables 3. Eastwood revealed that he had not had the opportunity to see either of the films or any material for a third film, but said it would probably not be a role he would take. He did suggest that he would probably be better suited to direct the film, rather than star in it.
Of course he laughed when he said this, so we probably won't be seeing Clint directing Sly and his boys anytime soon, but it would make for one interesting movie and you can be sure the seasoned director would bring the project in on budget. As you know, Stallone directed the first Expendables while Simon West took over directing duties for the sequel. The Expendables 2 has earned an impressive $191 million worldwide at the box office so far, though still short of the $274 million the original brought in.
Do you think Eastwood would be the perfect director to take on a third film or would you rather Sly just convince him to join the cast? Let us know in the comments or give us a tweet @ClevverMovies. I'm Erin White in Hollywood, thanks for watching!
