Really bad crash of a very large Octo X4 frame. 2 motors on each arm is supposed to be very stable configuration and the FC is DJI's newest Flight controller board, the A2. Could have been some bad settings, issues with the gps lock, who knows.
Couple features I thought were funny Straight from the DJI page....
Usually, the forward direction of a flying multi-rotor is the same as the nose direction. By using Intelligent Orientation Control (IOC), wherever the nose points, the forward direction has nothing to do with nose direction: To me, this says, I can't see what it's orientation is, and I'm really not to sure how to fly this back towards myself! lol Practice some nose in hovering
Once you enabled the Intelligent Landing Gear function in the assistant software, the landing gear is default at the Lower position when the aircraft is on the ground... LOL I hope the landing gear is down if it's on the ground? Just one more thing to fuck up DJI I like the gear retract on this one though !!
If the multirotor and its controller disconnects during flight, the system's failsafe protection will come to the rescue and if the signal is good enough, the multirotor will return to home and land automatically... NEWB UAV operators, read the fine print... IF THE SIGNAL IS GOOD ENOUGH, the multi-rotor will return home. LOL
Our Most Advanced Multirotor Stabilization Controller Ensures Total Ease Of Flight,
Reliability And Stability In Any Situation. LOL Did ya watch this video DJI? LMAO
Figure this was probably $8K crash with $1500 FC board, tiger motors, expensive frame, CF 18" blades at least, everything X8.
Huge beast of a machine, and think I would have set her down after the take-off, but what a total write off, dont think anything was left that I would want to trush again. Asked us what to do with the two batteries, told them to take them home lol
Thanks for watching, more great FPV and RC soon
