Hawkeye Cut Captain America 2 Scene Revealed

Hawkeye was set to appear in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and we’ve got details on the scene that was ultimately cut from the film. We recently told you that we could be seeing Hawkeye appear in 2016’s Captain America 3, but it turns out Marvel’s resident archer actually was set to appear in Cap’s second outing. While promoting the home video release of The Winter Soldier, co-director Joe Russo revealed to Screen Rant that the scene that was ultimately cut featured Hawkeye getting a call from SHIELD informing him that Captain America was a fugitive and that he was tasked with helping them take him down. Hawkeye chases Cap to a ravine on the outskirts of Washington D.C. and fires a series of arrows at him as Cap closes in. When Cap takes him down, Hawkeye whispers into his ear that he has a tracking device on his suit and tells Cap to punch him to make it look real because there is a Quinjet above them watching and sending the images back to SHIELD. It would have been a quick cameo, but would not only have included the underutilized Hawkeye, but also hinted at where his true loyalties lie. Ultimately though, the scene had to be cut due to a scheduling conflict with Jeremy Renner, which may end up being the same thing that keeps Renner from appearing in Captain America 3. Renner is currently busy filming Mission Impossible 5 and will follow that by filming the next Bourne film, which is also set to hit theaters in 2016. In the meantime, all you Hawkeye fans can look forward to him having an expanded role in next summer’s Avengers sequel, Age of Ultron. Now, Russo did suggest that cutting out the Hawkeye scene ultimately streamlined the movie, but what do you think? Would you have liked to have seen Hawkeye included in the film or would it just have been an unnecessary cameo? Share your comments below and click here to find out the 7 things we think need to happen in next summer’s Avengers 2. Until next time, I’m Joslyn Davis, thanks for watching!
