Hangar 9 138” Super Decathlon ePower - Maiden
Geoff got a great deal on this NIB Hangar 9 Super Decathlon and he bought it so that he would have a "nice small plane" he can chuck in the car and go flying. It will be great for the times when Geoff doesn't have time to hook up the trailer that stores his much larger 50% Cub.
Geoff enjoys exploding the myth about the size of plane that can fit into a small car like his older Toyota Rav 4.
The maiden went picture perfect with no trimming required and Geoff quickly went on to the next couple of flights to stretch the Decathlon's wings (no pun intended). It did not disappoint and as you'll see in the next video, it is as capable as its full scale counterpart.
Although you would expect the Decathlon to be powered by a DA 100/120 or something similar, Geoff has remained true to his preference for electric and used an extra Hacker A100-10 that he had lying around. The Hacker runs on 12s and is powered by four 6s 5800mAh lipos.

Motor: Hacker A100-10
ESC: Hacker/Jeti 170 ESC
Servos: JR 8411s and 8711 servo on the rudder.
Prop: Mejzlik 27x12 carbon fiber propeller
Flight Packs: Four 6S-2P 5800 mAh Lipos set up as pairs in series to provide 12s-2p (8 to 10 minutes of spirited flying)
Smart-Fly Sport Plus power expander with failsafe switch
2 - 1800 mAh LiFe 2 Cell packs
Nice flying and another nice build Geoff. It must have been a treat to start this project with an ARF compared to the labor of love it was to scratch build your 50% Cub!
