According to our friends at Deadline, Its looking like Sony Pictures has made a preemptive 7-figure deal for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance co-director Brian Taylor to write and direct a live action adaptation of the iconic video game Twisted Metal.

Twisted Metal is the longest running Playstation exclusive franchise and like the game, the film will follow combatants that fight to the death using vehicles loaded with weapons like machine guns, missile, and mines all for the chance to win a one wish prize fulfilled by the evil mastermind of the games known as Calypso. Signature characters like the ice cream truck driving homicidal clown Sweet Tooth and the 18 wheeler driving Doll Face are expected to make appearances in the film.

This will be the first solo project for director Taylor who, in addition to this week's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance has teamed with Mark Neveldine on the two Crank films with Jason Statham and the Gerard Butler starrer Gamer.
