Dwayne Johnson To Play Black Adam For DC

After months of speculation and rumors, Dwayne Johnson has finally revealed which DC character he will play! Dwayne Johnson has been rumored to be playing everyone from Green Lantern to Lobo in an upcoming DC movie, but it was previously revealed that in fact he would be playing either Shazam or Shazam’s main adversary Black Adam. Now, Johnson himself has taken to Twitter to announce that he will in fact take on the role of Black Adam in an upcoming film tweeting quote, “"Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot." My honor to become. #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCComics” Though many assumed Johnson would play the hero in the film, Johnson was recently quoted saying Black Adam has always been one of his favorite characters and that he’s always been a fan of anti-heroes. In the comics, Black Adam has had various incarnations, but was originally an ancient Egyptian prince who is corrupted when he is given the power of Shazam. Later incarnations made him into more of an anti-hero trying to clear his name. He has similar powers to Shazam and Superman including super strength, speed, stamina, senses, flight and invulnerability. No word yet on when we could see Shazam on the big screen, but Warner Bros previously announced 9 release dates for as yet titled DC movies with August 5th, 2016 being a likely candidate.
