BEST FOR LESS: Kingkong Tiny6 Advanced pack - Overview & Quick Fix (rxrange and failsafe)

Tiny-Whoop-styled micro quads do not need any introduction. They are very small and light brushed quadcopters that are very fun to fly - especially indoors. Any room, house, office, warehouse is a race track for these tiny flyers.
The "Chiny" Whoops have evolved rapidly - both the E010S and the Tiny6 are a prime example of this.
The flight controller of the Tiny6 includes the VTx circuitry and I find it to be the most appealing characteristic of the Tiny6. Although the signal is susceptible to interference due to the bare wire used as an antenna, this enables the design to be low profile, streamlined and lightweight.
It is also a great platform for modifying and upgrading (stay tuned for that)..
In the case of the Advanced pack of this video, it is a very good option for someone that wants to get into the whoop sized quads. It includes enough batteries and spares for a relatively good overall experience right out of the box. "Relatively" because:
- The AC800 receiver that was included in my FrSky version required some setting up and work-arounds regarding the channel values (rxrange) and the failsafe. Both fixes are shown in this video - it is not difficult to set right but it ruins the otherwise very positive experience the Tiny6 provides.
- Another gripe about the AC800 is that there are a few random dropouts here and there. Also the Tx should be turned on first, before plugging in the Tiny6, otherwise the AC800 will not bind.
- The motors are good for cruising around but an upgrade is almost mandatory right away, if you are used in fast flying.
- The USB at the bottom makes it difficult to calibrate the accelerometer - but you can easily do that via the cleanflight / betaflight stick commands (check the one that corresponds to your stick mode).
- The board camera has a slight green tint under certain lighting conditions but I consider this a minor issue.
I would say that the TLDR is this: some of the most appealing BNF ""Chiny"" Whoop options are the E010S and the Tiny6, neither of which provides a great straight-out-of-the-box experience.
BUT
They are both a good platform to improve on. I still enjoy both of them a lot on a daily basis, and I have the appropriate upgrades and mods planned specifically for each one.
If the F/C of the Tiny6 was sold separately, I would recommend building a whoop from scratch using that board instead of a BNF Tiny6. Combined with a tiny receiver, PH2.0 battery connector and batteries and installed in the ""right"" frame, it can do wonders.
