So, the process of upgrading from firmware version 1.00 or 1.01 to 1.02 is a big fat MISSION....
That process had been very well documented in Chad's video (link below) so I'm not going to repeat all that's needed and how to do it. watch his video for that...
It's nice and easy if all your escs are laid out on a bench, but for most of us they installed on our quads.
So, why not just use your quad and its xt60 to do it, well once you power it up the FC sends signal to the ESCS and that messes with the flashing process.
How do we fix that without desoldering everything?
simple.....
Put your kiss fc in bootloader mode.
This stops any signal getting to the ESCS and allows you to power them via the xt60 on your quad and will save you loads of time.
Other FC's might offer a similar solution but I haven't tested any of them.
to save even more time i chose the a ground tab on the PDB and soldered the ground of the Serial flashing tool to that. So only had to move the TX and RX from ESC to ESC.
Steps simplified
bridge bootloader on FC
solder ground of serial tool to a ground tab
tx to rx rx to tx
power up via XT60
open arduino, serial monitor, info
copy serial
paste on site
download file
power off xt60
bridge bootloader on esc
power up
use flashing software to flash
power down
unbridge ESC
move onto the next one
at the end flash your kiss FC an desolder the boot pins
All the links to the hardware are in chads video, so i wont post them up here.
I did however use a different USB tool. It's Linked below
Thanks to these guys for keeping me in the air
