Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) First Look

Lisa Gade goes hands-on with the Microsoft Surface Pro, the minor refresh of the Surface Pro 4 that will be available on June 15, 2017. Though the Surface Pro looks identical to the Surface Pro 4, there are a few design changes, most notably the hinge, and inside the convertible tablet has been refreshed with Intel 7th generation Kaby Lake dual core CPUs. Pricing remains the same as last gen, but it’s gotten more expensive since the pen is now sold separately and the updated Type Covers are more expensive.
Surface Pro (not to be confused with the first generation product with the same name) has a 12.3” Pixel Sense display running at 2736x1824 (same as SP4), a larger battery with much longer claimed battery life, a fanless design for all but the Core i7 models, and an improved digitizer and improved (now optional) $99 pen that supports 4,096 pressure levels, supports tilt and can have less latency (depending on program used). The tablet is available with up to 16GB RAM, optional LTE 4G, and a variety of SSD capacities.
