Setting up my Walkera V450D01 Helicopter controls last night with something I discovered messing around with my helicopter simulator. If I setup the Gyro controls high enough, properly tweak them and use the build in commands from the DEVO 10 (Devention) transmitter I can setup a "Panic" switch almost an Autopilot of some kind. The Helicopter will stable itself out, and remain in a hover (give or take a couple of feet) allowing me to bring it back safely. I also set this mode in the Fail Safe setup so if it ever looses signal from the transmitter it will fall back to this mode.
The throttle was set at 75% which after my test I moved down to 60% and my Pitch Curves were set at +60/0/-60 which after test I converted to +60/+20/-60 @ 90% Gyro. This worked out great for me know if I am really far away and hard to see what direction I'm facing or if I happen to lose control and panic I flip the switch and the heli will go into hover mode. It will flip either upside down or right side up depending on which is closest to its current angle. So far initial tests have been good, just had a small drop in altitude due to the difference in pitch where Normal Mode my center is 20% and its center was 0%. So to try and find the perfect balance I set my Panic Mode switch to 60% Throttle at 20% pitch MID point and set my Normal Flying Mode the same up from 50% at MID pitch.
