TOMB RAIDER REBOOT SEQUEL CONFIRMED (Escapist News Now)
Publisher Square Enix has confirmed that their reboot of the popular Tomb Raider series will be getting a sequel on next-generation consoles.
A hint was dropped by the author of the new Tomb Raider comic series, Gail Simone, which will bridge the gap between the two games. The comic is slated to debut in February of next year and the story will take place after the events of the reboot.
Now this news has been confirmed by Square Enix's Phil Rogers who said in a recent open letter, "I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel."
Despite strong sales of the reboot, Square Enix posted major losses last financial year, which triggered a restructuring of the company. But Rogers assured people, "I can categorically say that we're not abandoning core, triple-A console and PC games. We're working hard at improving how we develop our games and how we release them."
