Paul Giamatti Eyed To Play "Rhino" In 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'

How do you up the ante when it comes to Spider-Man movies? Add more villains of course and it looks like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be taking a cue from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 and have the number in the title also determine the number of adversaries Peter Parker will have to contend with. Back in 2007, Tobey Maguire had to tackle not only Sandman, but also fan favorite Venom as well as James Franco as New Goblin. We previously learned that Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man would be battling Jamie Foxx as Electro and now, thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, word is he will also have to contend with the brute force of The Rhino with Paul Giamatti in talks for the role. In the comics, Rhino is a low-level thug in the Russian Mafia who undergoes a procedure that increases his physical strength and binds a rhinoceros inspired armor to his body. Playing Rhino would be a dream project for Giamatti telling ShowbizSpy back in March 2011 quote, "If they ever go with The Rhino, I would be ready and waiting." The Hollywood Reporter also reveals that British actress Felicity Jones, who appeared opposite Star Trek's Anton Yelchin in 2011's Like Crazy is also in talks to join the cast in an as yet unrevealed role. Production on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to begin next month for a May 2nd, 2014 release with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone reprising their roles along with new cast members Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley and Dane DeHaan.
