Stacie Vilendrer is an MD candidate at the Stanford School of Medicine and an MBA student at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, graduating in 2015. Vilendrer is committed to bringing primary care and preventive medicine to underserved patients close to home and abroad. She runs a free clinic for local communities and has trained medical workers in Tanzania and India. For her, experiences overseas and the challenges that face the U.S. health care system at home have highlighted the importance of preventing and managing chronic diseases. To alleviate this problem, Vilendrer is helping startup companies harness the power of digital and mobile technology to benefit patients.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
