BEST FOR LESS: FrSky Hall-Effect M9 Gimbals for the Taranis - Overview, adjustment & comparison

FrSky surprised us all when they announced the M9 Gimbals for the Taranis X9D and X9D Plus transmitters: a direct replacement with better build quality, smooth bearings and hall-effect sensors at a very good price.
The hype was and still is real, as was the limited availability early on.
The new design looks premium, compared to the stock gimbals. The faceplate is metallic and the mounting holes come pre-threaded. Most screws have been replaced by hex screws and the bearings feel very smooth. The adjustable sticks are very well implemented but the stars of the show are the new sensors.
Unlike the stock potentiometer-based gimbals, which deteriorate over time due to friction, the new gimbals incorporate hall-effect sensors, which rely on magnets to determine the position of each stick. The main advantages are significant, although not easily or directly noticeable: longevity without deterioration in performance and increased resolution and accuracy, with no jittering of the stick position values.
If only they were not so hard to find..
