Marvel Cinematic Universe Characters To Appear In Spider-Man Movie

Spider-Man is set to get a little help from some of his new Marvel friends and we’ve got the details right now on Clevver Newsfeed. It looks like Spider-Man won’t have to go it alone once the dust settles from Marvel’s Civil War. As you’re probably aware, a while back Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios made a rare agreement to allow Spider-Man to appear in this summer’s Captain America: Civil War. While Sony retains the film rights to the character and will distribute next year’s solo film, Marvel president Kevin Feige will act as a producer on the film. One of the big question marks from the agreement though was whether we would see characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe swinging over to Spider-Man’s film. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Feige has confirmed that, yes, some characters from the MCU will appear in next year’s Spider-Man movie saying quote, “He is in the universe now and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth.” While he would not reveal which characters will appear in the film, which is currently set for July 7th, 2017, the film’s potential title could give us a hint. Sony Pictures recently began purchasing domain names for potential titles and while there’s no guarantee any of these will end up being the actual title, one in particular is getting the rumor mill churning. In addition to “Spider-Man: Coming of Age”, “Spider-Man: Greatness Awaits” and “Spider-Man: Suspended”, Sony has registered the domain name “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. In that storyline, Spider-Man returns to New York after the Secret Wars to resume his crime-fighting ways with the help of a new suit. While we don’t anticipate a straight adaptation of the story, there are definitely some elements to the story that could fit nicely into a post-Civil War Spider-Man movie. If the “Homecoming” comic does end up being inspiration for the new film, it could also hint at which characters from the MCU we could potentially see including Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye and Thor. All four characters appeared in the comic and while Thor seems highly unlikely, we know Spider-Man will interact with the other three in Civil War. Adding to the possibility of seeing Captain America and Iron Man appearing in the film is the fact that, late last year, Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans revealed they would be returning to Atlanta to shoot another Marvel movie after Captain America 3. While they could have been referring to 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, that film likely won’t start filming until sometime next year with film locations likely still being worked out. We’ll of course have to wait and see which Marvel characters end up appearing in next year’s Spider-Man movie, but which do you think it will be? Share your predictions in the comments and then click here to find out what we want to see happen in the movie. I’m Danielle Robay, thanks for watching and we’ll see you soon with more movie news.
