In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew speaks with Eric Mizufuka, Augmented Reality Solutions Project Manager for Epson. He introduces the new Moverio BT-300 AR glasses, developed specifically to work with DJI drones by projecting a semi-transparent image of video and telemetry from the aircraft into the pilot's field of view. Like a heads-up display in a jet fighter, the pilot can simultaneously see both their instrumentation and the real world behind it, making it possible to maintain visual line of sight with the drone. The BT-300 includes a front-facing camera, in order to capture the pilot's perspective during flight operations. The glasses are tethered to a control unit running the Android OS and DJI GO app, which incorporates a track pad and buttons to interact with the software, as well as the battery powering the unit. The BT-300 can be fitted with polarized sun shades as well as corrective lenses. It will sell for $800 and will be available at the end of January 2017.
