Star Wars Rogue One Plot Details Revealed

This year’s Star Wars Celebration has officially ended and with it comes new details on next year’s spinoff film, Star Wars Rogue One! Today’s episode of Clevver News Feed is brought to you by the new movie The Age of Adaline - in theaters Friday! We told you last month that the first Star Wars spinoff movie, currently set to arrive in theaters on December 16th, 2016 would be titled “Rogue One” and star Felicity Jones, but not much else was known about the project, but at yesterday’s panel, director Gareth Edwards revealed new details about the film. It has long been rumored that the movie will focus on the stealing of the original Death Star plans and that has been confirmed. The film will be a prequel, set shortly before the events of Episode 4: A New Hope and will follow a rag tag group of Rebels attempting to capture the Death Star plans. Edwards explained that the film will deal with ordinary men and women “that don’t have magic powers, that have to bring hope to the galaxy”. A teaser trailer was shown during the panel which featured a camera flying through a forest landscape with original Obi Wan Kenobi Alec Guinness saying quote, “For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times. Before the Empire.” It’s then revealed that the completed Death Star is orbiting the planet. The official logo for the film was also shown that revealed that the spinoffs will be called the “Star Wars Anthology” series. Felicity Jones will play a rebel soldier in the film and Edwards said she was cast because they wanted to see “fear, humor and warmth” in the character and not just the clichéd image of a warrior. He also teased that since the film takes place in roughly the same time period as the animated series Star Wars Rebels, there are opportunities for characters featured in that to show up. He also teased that the absence of the Jedi hangs over the film and it will deal with the realities of war comparing it to films like Zero Dark Thirty, Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down. As you can tell, this is set to be a very different Star Wars film than we’ve ever seen before and Edwards explained that since it’s a self-contained story, they can be a bit more free and brave with it than the Saga films.
