We may be over a year away from seeing Batman and Superman battle on the big screen, but today we’re getting some new details on the two superhero’s relationship and where Wonder Woman came from. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice producer Charles Roven has been taking a few notes from Marvel’s Kevin Feige and shared a few tidbits of info while taking part in LMU’s Hollywood Masters series. First up, despite a lot of people being less than happy about Ben Affleck being cast as Batman, Roven wanted to make sure everyone was aware that he was his and director Zack Snyder’s first choice to play the Dark Knight in the new film. The reason being that, because of the nature of the story, Batman needs to tower slightly over Superman and Ben Affleck’s 6’4” height compared to Henry Cavill’s 6’1” did just that. They wanted Superman to look up to Batman both physically and mentally. Additionally, following the story’s pace set by the Dark Knight Returns comic, the film requires an older, weathered Batman. Someone older and more mature to juxtapose against the young, newly established Supes. That definitely fits the bill for Ben and the producer had a point by saying not too many other actors can fit that ticket right now, especially considering the biggest reveal came when Roven stated that Affleck is, “…much more of a social animal, in the Bruce Wayne incarnation, but he’s also extremely rough in the Batman incarnation – very, very, very rough.” This all tells us a lot about the movie – one, Affleck is probably going to kick way more ass than the internet originally thought and two – we’re going to see a socially agile Bruce Wayne, something Christian Bale’s Bruce was a little colder about. Nice to know we’ll be getting to see both sides of the Batman in the fim and extra nice to know Affleck is playing the extremes. And he certainly has the chops to keep it from being over-exaggerated…at least we hope. But Batman isn’t the only character getting extra screen time in a film called Dawn of Justice – Roven had some revealing comments about Gal Godot’s Wonder Woman as well when he said the Amazonian Princess is, “…a demi-god…her father was Zeus.” The Zeus father storyline is in line with the rebooted Wonder Woman comic book series that has been doing extremely well. It looks like DC could be setting up Wonder Woman to be their version of Thor and could be a huge hint to not only how she’ll be portrayed in Dawn of Justice, but also what we could potentially see in the much rumored solo film. We’ll have to wait and see how everything plays out when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters on March 25th, 2016 but in the meantime, click here to check out our of 7 things that we think need to happen in the film. But first, does it sound like Ben Affleck is truly the right actor to play Batman and what do you think of the film following Wonder Woman’s New 52 origin and being the daughter of Zeus?
