A few weeks ago I suggested the idea of pedaling all the way from our apartment in Hollywood to Long Beach, roughly 35 miles away. Remarkably Catfish agreed to the idea and invited a few members of the esteemed Common Crew, who joined us in our journey. Everything was going smoothly until we decided to pedal through South Central instead of taking the bike path. As soon as we dismissed the bike path, a bunch of us got flats forcing us to waste a ton of time fixing them. Then we didn't have much daylight left so we had to pedal non-stop for the last 10 or so miles, exhausting our respiratory systems and depriving our muscles of oxygen in the home stretch. We celebrated with Mexican food and then took the train home. All in all it was a pretty enjoyable day and I hope it encourages you to go on an adventure with your friends even if it leaves you physically depleted for a few days afterwards.
