2016 was a year of stellar movies featuring unforgettable performances, making this year’s winners harder to predict and more well-deserved than ever.
Starting with the ladies, Jennifer Lawrence took the globe home for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for Joy, while Kate Winslet won for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for Steve Jobs. Brie Larson took home the big award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for her work in Room.
As for the men, Matt Damon won for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical for Comedy for The Martian while Sylvester Stallone was given a standing ovation for his win in the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama category for his reprised role as Rocky Balboa in Creed. The big win of the night went to Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for The Revenant. (Cue the “Leo finally wins!” memes now!) We’re sure there are no hard feelings between him and his co-star, The Bear, for his win, but he might wanna avoid Jonah Hill for the rest of the night…
When it came to the best movies of the year, Inside Out won for Best Animated Film, The Martian won for best Musical or Comedy, and The Revenant won for Best Drama.
