An Assassin’s Creed movie is on the way and we’ve got your first look at star Michael Fassbender right now on Clevver Newsfeed! Could next year’s Assassin’s Creed break the video game movie curse? Our first official look at the film’s star is getting us hopeful. Thanks to Yahoo Movies, we’re getting our first official look at Michael Fassbender in costume for next December’s Assassin’s Creed movie. In the film, Fassbender will play “Callum Lynch”, a character created specifically for the film as the movie won’t attempt to retell any storylines from the games, but will introduce new characters into the world. Utilizing technology that allows him to experience the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain, Callum will discover he is descended from a secret society known as “The Assassins”. He will use the knowledge and skills he learns from his ancestor to take on a rival and oppressive organization called “The Templar” in present day. Fassbender will reunite with his Macbeth co-star Marion Cotillard and director, Justin Kurzel for the film which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 21st, 2016. 12 Years a Slave’s Michael Kenneth Williams and Ariane Labed from Before Midnight will also star with production set to begin next week and filming to take place in London, Spain and Malta.
