MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD: Having completed The Evil Within, Andy ostensibly qualifies as Outside Xbox's The Evil Within expert. But being quizzed on the story of the game immediately after finishing it reveals big gaps in his understanding of what went down in Krimson City. Here are the five big questions left unanswered at the end of The Evil Within.
In Andy's defense, the Evil Within is vague or ambiguous on plenty of counts, such as what happened to Ruvik at the end. It looks as if he now inhabits the body of Leslie, striding off like a straitjacketed Keyser Soze at the end there, but does that final scene take place in the real world or is it all still a hallucination?
We also can't be sure what's happened to Julie Kidman, Sebastian’s supposed rookie partner, who we later discover is working for the same organisation as the corrupt Dr Jimenez. Nor are we certain who is responsible for installing the others into the nightmarish shared brain world in the first place.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like we’re going to find out what Kidman’s deal is until the DLC. Publisher Bethesda has announced Kidman will star in a two-part DLC pack, and will “encounter unthinkable enemies and new areas that reveal hidden motives and harrowing evil”. Thank goodness for DLC, eh?
We may get our answers when that DLC comes out but in the meantime, give us your The Evil Within theories in the comments below.
