Justice League Villain Teased In New Batman v Superman Pics

A powerful new villain is teased in the latest Batman v Superman photos and we’ve got the details right now on Clevver Newsfeed! If you had any doubts about where the DC Extended Universe was headed, this new pic should clear things up. We’re less than two months away from Batman v Superman officially launching the DCEU and that means the marketing blitz is heating up and a batch of new photos are not only teasing what’s in store for DC’s most popular characters, but also what’s in store for next year’s Justice League movie. In the last trailer we got a glimpse at what looked like some kind of nightmare future that included throngs of wing demons that many guessed were Parademons. In the comics, these monstrous creatures are loyal to the powerful villain known as “Darkseid”, which led many to believe he would be the main antagonist of the Justice League movie. While the appearance of Parademons may not be enough to confirm Darkseid, this new photo should. In the pic we see Batman overlooking a destroyed city and in front of the burning wreckage is a giant omega symbol. In the comics, Darkseid uses this symbol often and one of his most powerful weapons is the Omega Beam. Basically, this giant omega is a calling card saying, “Darkseid was here.” While we don’t anticipate him actually making an appearance in the film, it’s pretty clear the filmmakers are sending a message that we should expect him soon. One villain we do know we’ll see in Batman v Superman is Doomsday, who was revealed in the latest trailer. Many fans were upset about not only his appearance being revealed, but also just the fact that he is being introduced so early into the DCEU. In a recent interview with Empire, director Zack Snyder explained the decision to include him saying quote, “To go up against heroes like Batman and Superman, we wanted to introduce one of the DC Universe’s most iconic and powerful villains. He is essentially and unstoppable force. He poses a real threat to the world within the film.” In order to take on this powerful threat, Wonder Woman will be introduced and in the same interview, it’s revealed that she is a 5,000 year old retired superhero who has stopped protecting the world, because according to star Gal Gadot, she’s quote, “…seen it all, she has seen what humans can do, so it was very hard for her to come back and fight.” Snyder explained that Wonder Woman wasn’t originally set to appear in the film, but her introduction became very organic once they decided to not save anything and her entrance made them realize they were closer to creating the Justice League than they ever thought.
