Walkera knows how to make palm size drones, before this W100, they have the successful Ladybird. This time they base on the same platform and do some interesting upgrades. First they added a Wi-Fi chip set on it, now you can control it directly with your iPhone / iPad, no need to trouble with router setting or internet setting, just turn on your iPhone / iPad Wi-Fi, click on the drone's name and open the "WK-Remote" app, then you will get live video feed and gain control to the drone, you can even start / stop recording and take still image, the files go straight into your i-device and then you can retrieve them thru iTunes so you can show off to your friends, fancy, isn't?
While using with iPhone / iPad, you can use the ordinary stick control mode, or use the Gravity Mode, by tilting the iPhone / iPad the drone will follow the same direction, we tried it and it worked, just you need to practice for a while to get use to it. For us though, we like to fly it the old fashion way with a real RC transmitter.... wait a minute... can we do that?
Yes, that's one funny thing about the W100, you can also use a DEVO transmitter to fly it, and still connecting with the iPhone thru Wi-Fi, not for control, but to get live video feeds, that means the W100 turned to a FPV drone, you see what it sees and fly it with the videos just like you were sitting in it, the video feed quality is pretty good, smooth and bright, it's actually doable. This is what we wanted when we were little boy, and now it's here and NOT expensive, so in my opinion, get it and have a try, you should like it.
