Explosive speed meets natural leather - We lace up, test and review Nike Football's brand new Canvas/Volt Tech Craft Mercurial Superfly IV edition.
The 10th of November 2015 saw the official release of Nike's first follow-up colour update on their revolutionary Tech Craft Pack that utilises the addition of either a thin K-Leather layer upon each silos synthetic upper or a totally rebuilt structure to compose a full leather base to increase the natural feel and touch experienced when touching and striking the ball. The secondary Tech Craft colour-way showed a contrasting paint-job of Canvas/Volt adorning each boot in matching designs whereas the launch edition showcased differing colour match-ups for individual silos.
As seen with the original Tech Craft release, a small number of professional representatives of Nike laced-up in the flash colour-way which again posed as surprising due to the combination of modernistic technology complemented by traditional materials. Although all of the Nike Tech Craft silos posed in matching colours, specific boots were issued either a layer of leather or full leather upper to create a revolutionary product. Whereas the Mercurial Superfly, Hypervenom Phantom II, and Magista range incorporated a thin layer of leather upon their synthetic base, the Hypervenom Phinish and Mercurial Vapor opted to reconstruct their base through a genuine leather composition. Nike's Tiempo Legend, already possessing a K-Leather upper, remained true to design however posed in the same Canvas/Volt colour-way.
Whilst the Tech Craft Pack wasn't overly represented on the professional stage, several high-profile players such as Blaise Matuidi, Edinson Cavani, Alexis Sanchez, and Francis Coquelin chose to lace-up in the innovative Magista Obra, Hypervenom Phantom II, Mercurial Superfly, and Tiempo Legend silos respectively.
